Madeleine Ennis (she/her)

I am a sister, daughter, partner, sewist, researcher and educator. I believe in the power of community-based research and storytelling to understand, refine, dismantle, and improve existing systems to create impactful change. I am a fourth generation Canadian of mixed-settler ancestry. I live, play, work, and create on the unceded and traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.

I have always been deeply curious about sexual and reproductive health. During my undergraduate degree at Bishop’s University, I facilitated sexual health education sessions, and found work I am deeply passionate about. I completed my PhD in Reproductive and Developmental Sciences at The University of British Columbia in 2020, followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship co-leading the Canadian Abortion Provider Survey. I have been an instructor of undergraduate and graduate level courses and am currently a Research Associate within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The University of British Columbia. Through my research, I strive to improve access to high-quality and equitable abortion and contraception care. Outside of work, you can usually find me sewing, backpacking with my partner (Aubrey) and dog (Pretzel), painting murals in my home, or eating pasta.
